| | Although there are many excellent books available on Aromatherapy, few present the subject in such simple terms as this unpretentious volume, which focuses on using essences at home to alleviate minor ailments, enhance sensuality and to enhance all-round good health. Tisserand (who is married to Robert, one of aromatherapy’s best known authorities) offers simple recipes for improving our lives with essential oils. The book begins with a section on "getting through the day" (try a rosemary bath after a sleepless night, or a whiff of basil oil for mental fatigue) and moves on to a number of useful remedies for gynecological ailments (take juniper oil for water retention or lavender oil for cystitis and thrush). There’s also a section on enhancing your sensuality, healing minor complaints such as acne or headaches, as well as sections on hair care, pregnancy, child birth and remedies for childhood illnesses. She concludes with a section of recipes which complements the tips in each chapter, with specific (but easy) instructions for preparing your own remedies, oils, baths, perfumes, masks and compresses. 176 pp. |
