Jiddu Krishnamurti was a spiritual teacher who rejected all forms of belief or religious authority. Deeply concerned with the suffering and confusion of our world, he insisted that social change could not take place without transformation of the individual, and that the key to this transformation is total awareness in the present moment rather than efforts to change, improve ones self or escape from ones problems. Out of this selfless awareness, he taught, would come love, creativity and appreciation of beauty.
